Buyers want to envision themselves living in a well-organized home, so you should organize all the areas of your home. Don’t leave clutter or paperwork out in the open. For security reasons, put away bills and anything else that has your personal information on it.

A good rule is to pare down at least 50% and organize the rest. In closets, color-coordinate clothes and arrange them in sections. Use matching hangers and keep things off the floor. Hire a company that will come in and organize the house if necessary. You may be very attached to personal items and clutter, but it is important to understand the psychological impact that such an impression makes on the buyer, and put such items away for the time being.
