What are the "hot colors" for Spring?

Predictions are rampant among home designers.  Here are what some designers are showcasing:

  • Neutrals with a heavy emphasis on gray.  They include colors such as Taupe, Silver, Charcoal Gray, Tea Beige and Champagne.  Why the trend for neutrals?  I think our staging work is having an impact on homeowners (yeah)!  Since neutral colors is our mantra and many homeowners have had their house staged when selling it, they have experienced the value of painting walls neutral and then use a bold, trendy color with fabrics and accessories.  Another important factor may be the sagging economy.  People want an easy palette that they don't have to pay to change when the color trends change.
  • Black & white.  These two colors separately are neutral colors.   Put them together and you can create a neutral yet exciting color pallette.  Bold and graphic black and white patterns with dashes of bright color is a can't miss.
  • Yellow.  Our HGTV friend, Matthew Finlason, from the series "The Stagers" informed us at the Resa International Staging Conference that yellow is the "hot color" for spring.  We are beginning to see this color in many of the spring catalogues that are arriving on our desks.

I personally can't wait to infuse this "hot" color pallette in my staging projects for the Spring!
