Are these generic blinds unattractive to buyers?

Our windows have Hunter Douglas wooden blinds. They work well but do they look too plain in our $300,000 suburban home? Any cost effective recommendations on how to make these windows look better?

Wooden blinds, if in good, clean, working condition are a perfect choice. Think about the purpose windows serve. You are selling the view (if good) and light in the space. Heavy or dated drapery is out in most cases. If the space is large and too sterile (it's hard to tell from the photo) then you may want to purchase inexpensive, neutral panels and curtain rods to compliment the space and furnishings. There are many styles to choose from. Stick to neutral solid colors like khaki, cream, sage green or beige). Curtain rods come in a variety of styles as well such as brushed nickel, wrought iron and solid wood for a more updated look.

Selling a home is all about creating an image. You want a buyer to feel instantly attracted to the environment, to feel "at home". Blinds are fine in a very contemporary house. However in most homes they just leave a window looking unfinished. Curtains complete a window. They add that layer of comfort and coziness that says "home". That said, curtains should never be outdated, fussy or overly dramatic. Simple drapery hardware and simple panels (not sheers) from Target will work wonders and won't break your budget. Always make sure to measure properly for drapes. They should touch the floor. Nothing looks worst than "high water" drapes that stop three inches above the floor!

Personally, I like the blinds you are showing as long as the room isn't empty or too stark.  If staged properly and color is added with some large plants then I think they will look great.  I'm all about showing off large windows and bringing the outside in.  If there is a good view why not show it off.

Look at your view!!!!  I'd pull them all the way up when showing the house!
