Which Is Better? Scratches or Stains On Stovetops???

How do you clean deep stains on your stovetop? I'm worried about hurting the finish by scrubbing too hard.  What cleaners would you recommend? And most of all, if it does scratch which will buyers be more turned off by, Scratches or stains?

Hi Sandy, when selling a home, appliances are an important factor to consider. Neither option you mention, scratches or stains are better and depending on the price point of your home, the age and condition of the appliances, you may want to consider replacing or repainting the appliance. Buyers today are looking for upgrades in the kitchen and appliances are often high on their list. Since there is not photo I cannot tell how deep the stain is you are describing and cleaning it abrasively will only cause damage. I don't know if the surface is glass or enamel - but you can talk to a local paint store professional to get some guidance if painting could be an option.
