    Pantry clutter or expected living?

We have a large walk-in pantry.  Does this look too cluttered or do people expect this when walking into a pantry?

What you're selling here is storage space and a potential buyer can't see it even though you probably have a lot. Keep in mind what a buyer is looking for and purchasing when home shopping in all areas of the house. For the pantry - the shelves and storage space should be highlighted - the stuff goes with you. The kitchen and yes, including the pantry (people will open up your cabinets) should be spotless. Get rid of what you don't need, use or may be expired. Keep items neatly arranged. It's not a huge amount of effort or time to do this and your buyers will be happy with the results.

Buyers only expect what they are picturing in their heads.  Which is usually a move-in-ready house and plenty of storage space.  I always suggest seller's remove 3/4 of the items in their closets and the pantry should be no more than 1/2 full if not less.  Try to organize it and make sure it's clean.  Think of it as getting a head start on packing for your move.  Having less in the pantry will make it appear larger.  Her's my 90 second interview on getting closets buyer ready http://energizedseller.com/media/p/7479.aspx

Space sells. One of the main things a buyer will look for in a home is space in the kitchen!

The floor should be completely clear.

    Group like items together.

Use containers that are opaque so you cannot see the items inside.

Reduce your inventory as much as possible.

Look on the Container Store website and use their photos for inspiration. Everyone wants a Container Store pantry!

Remember all of your closets need to look like Container Store closets, not just the pantry!

I defintely agree with all of these ladies. When we sold our last home, the realtor had me basically removed everything from the closets. I stored them in boxes, neatly arrange in the garage. Things like  paper products, appliances, toys were placed in the garage. I was amazed what a difference it made to my closets. I actually ended up giving most of those boxes to the local homeless shelter. It was a nice home in a very desirable neighborhood and it sold in less than a month.

I think making it appear like there is more space was a big factor.  Hope you sell your home quickly.
