Is it better to have inexpensive artwork or no artwork at all?

This framed poster was displayed in a home seller's living room.  Is this better than no artwork  at all?

I think it depends how it relates to the furniture and accessories in the space and also the price point of the house. There is a difference between inexpensive and cheap (to be avoided)--this does not look "cheap" to me.

Personally I like the picture but I'm not keen on the frame if that can be changed I think the picture is nice.  It also depends on how it relates to the furniture and the accessories in the room to see if it fits well in the overall theme of the room.

If this is a main wall or a place that the eye falls to then a picture is needed but if it isn't an important wall I may leave it without a picture depending on the furniture layout and where your eye falls when you walk in the room.  Good luck

It absolutely depends on the scale, color and style of the artwork and how it relates to the room.  Inexpensive artwork can be just as attractive as an expensive piece.  Even homemade artwork can look great.  Cost is a huge factor, especially when staging, since the artwork may be temporary or at least hang temporarially in that location.

This piece is great, especially since it is a reproduction of a master.  I agree, the frame is a little dated.  An inexpensive wood frame from a craft store would be perfect.

I agree 100% with the advice given. Any easy frame solution would be to just spray it black! That will give it a quick-fix updated/generic look.

I always take all the pictures down then arrange the rest of the room.  Then I look for inappropriate gaps and 'fill' them with wall art.

As we all know, too many pictures can crowd a room.  I agree with everyone else, paint the frame black and this picture is fine. .....  maybe.  There is a lot going on with that pic.  Eye-catching red, two faces, a lot of motion, and potential recognition of that famous painting.  It is going to momentarily catch the attention of almost any buyer.  So, I would only use it if I could hang it near an architectural feature I wanted to hi lite - I would use it to pull eyes in it's direction so they could then see something important about the room.
