I’ve been creating lifestyle environments and designing sets for commercial photographers as a photography stylist for over twenty years. Neiman Marcus, Horchow, Kohler and Hunter Douglas are among the clients for whom I’ve created beautiful rooms that were published in the pages of national magazines and catalogs.
In 1994, a real estate agent asked me to “fix” the home of a friend. The word “staging” was in its infancy. California had a handful of stagers, Dallas had none. I took a crew into this particular home and did what I’ve always done for photo shoots, made it look like it could be in a national magazine. The house sold to the first person who walked in the door. I realized I was on to something.
Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of staging homes all over Dallas with great results.
I write about home, design and staging for regional and national publications and am presently the publicity chair for the Dallas chapter of RESA
I use Karen for all of my listings in the Dallas, TX area (since 2003). I wanted to keep her as my secret weapon, but staging for real estate sales has taken off. I won't list a property without her. When I list a home for sale it has to be the best home in its category available so I can get the highest price in the shortest amount of time for my client. I can't do that without Karen. A new RESA chapter was recently formed in Dallas.RESA is a worldwide member governed trade association for professional real estate stagers. Real estate staging is the process of preparing a home for sale to create immediate buyer interest. Membership in RESA provides support to professional real estate stagers providing them with up to date information, marketing, support services and access to continuing education providers.
